The weather patterns in Spokane have been consistently cold over the past few years.
Some people have inaccurately said that Spokane has four distinct seasons, but some years it’s cold in May and June when other areas would be experiencing spring or early summer weather.
If you can’t handle cold weather, you better look for a different place to live. My girlfriend moved to Spokane from southern Texas. Her town was in the desert and she experienced temperatures as high as 120 degrees during some of the most intense summer heat waves of her life. It was undergraduate studies at Washington State University that brought her to my hometown. We were both literature students when we met each other. Back then we would take walks down to the Spokane River and throughout the winding streets of the University District. Now we live further northward in Emerson Garfield. When we needed to hire a heating and cooling company recently, she was surprised to learn that there are so many HVAC companies in Spokane to choose from. We get extremely cold temperatures every winter so heating and cooling companies are a necessity for survival. In my area of Emerson Garfield, there is a large number of HVAC companies between here and Northwest Spokane. I always make sure that my heating systems are serviced and ready for the heavy winter heating season. I have a service and maintenance contract with my HVAC supplier as well, making the labor free with the cost of the service warranty. This is important if you want to survive in a cold environment like Spokane, particularly for longer than a single year.
