I called work to say I wasn't coming in

I’ve been laboring at a pizzeria in downtown Jacksonville, Florida for the past 3 months, i started laboring at the pizzeria right after the Summer season begin; When I first started laboring at the pizzeria, the A/C device worked fine, but the pizzeria has commercial central a/c, but there is a single mini split A/C device in the dining room part for the staff.

The dining room is quite big and I do not believe that one a/c device is enough for all of that square footage and people.

I have been feeling honestly sick and nauseous every night that I am at work! Between the Heat of the oven and the flames from the grill, there is not enough cool air to honestly make the temperature colder. It’s entirely 110° in the back of that downtown Jacksonville, Florida pizzeria. When the a/c broke down last night, I told my boss that I wasn’t coming back to work unless it was fixed. I called one of my friends that works the afternoon shift at the pizzeria. I asked if there was a service man at the pizzeria or if the A/C device had been fixed, and my neighbor informed me that it was still 100° in the back of the pizzeria! Since the problems with the a/c weren’t fixed, I called work to tell my boss that I wasn’t coming in for my shift. My boss honestly sounded surprised, but I warned him that I wasn’t going to work in the heat and humidity any longer.
