I have been living alone for a long time.
I know how expensive it can be during the winter months, especially in a house that has a gas furnace.
The gas heating bill for my Evansville, Indiana residence is a whopping $300 every month. The temperatures are extremely cold and frigid and it is not uncommon for my home to be covered with ice. If I don’t have a good heater, a lot of problems can occur. It’s expensive to run the furnace so I do my best to keep the bills as low as possible. I try to keep all of the doors closed in the rooms that I am not using. I also have extra blankets on my bed. I got a quilt from the kids last year. It has all of the historic places of Evansville, Indiana on one side, and the other side is pictures of the grandkids. I absolutely felt love with the blanket as soon as I saw it. The blanket has a nice heavy fleece and I keep it on the bed so I don’t have to have the temperatures so high on the thermostat. I usually keep the thermostat set around 60 degrees unless my son is coming for a visit. He came to the house one time when it was 60° and he threatened to put me into a home. I asked him if he was going to start paying my electric bills and he did not like that response. I’m just trying to make sure that I have money each month for all of my medications.
