I was living in the northern part of the US, & our winters were always well below chilly, and there were afternoons when the hot & cold temperatures were below zero.
I wanted to go to the University of Tuscaloosa, because it was an excellent school, but I should have done more homework about the area, had I known that a wintry afternoon in winter was in the upper fifties, I’m not sure I would have come to this school, however when it was time for winter break, I was ready to go home.
I was telling mom & Mom how tepid it was in Tuscaloosa, AL, & Mom reminded me he had tried to tell me this! Not everywhere was as chilly as it was at home. My nice friend and I occasionally had Summer afternoons that didn’t get out of the fifties. It wasn’t often, however it happened. I was happy with the school, but I could not get used to the heat, and Mom told me I should stay there over the Summer & let my body get used to the heat, but I wasn’t sure that was going to happen. I enjoyed being home, & they had excellent schools here. He forced me to go back to school after winter split & told me if I still wasn’t happy, he would let me transfer to one school in our state. I already knew I was going to transfer to a odd school. There was no way I was going to survive in Tuscaloosa without air conditioner every afternoon. I just wish my Mom understood that & let me transfer now.
