My husband and I got engaged during the height of COVID. We originally planned on a big wedding in our local area of Evansville Indiana. There were plenty of beautiful locations that we could have had the wedding at. However, this was a time where you couldn’t rent anywhere due to restrictions. A honeymoon seemed like an impossible dream too. Traveling overseas was totally banned and even going to another state seemed like a bad idea. It seemed like we had to do something local. Instead of doing a big wedding where nobody could come, we did a small ceremony just the two of us at the local courthouse. Instead of an overseas honeymoon that would make us wear masks and quarantine, we went to Burdette Park. You can rent rustic chalets that are surrounded by wooded campgrounds. It was really great for two people trying to get away who couldn’t. We also did this during the summer so the Olympic sized pool and family pool were open as well in the park. It wasn’t the wedding and honeymoon of my dreams but we really enjoyed it. We had a relaxing time, nice weather and did get some great local pictures. The best news was that every service we hired like the photographer, flowers and wedding cake were all local Evansville businesses. We didn’t spend that much money and supported the other locals. After we were ready to go home, it was a quick twenty minute drive and I was back in my own bed again.

It’s the best adult playground in America, and I get to experience it without my kids! I would still be excited about going to visit Las Vegas again, because it has been a few years, but it is much more exciting to be able to roam freely without being hindered by the presence of my three young children.

Although Toronto attracts over 27 million visitors yearly from outside its borders, not all of these people know ahead of time that they’re about to see a lush and green metropolis that has some of the most trees in any city of its size.

It might be hard to believe that a single municipality could be home to over 1,500 parks, many of which are shaded with ash, aspen, basswood, birch, beech, cedar, and chestnut trees to name a few.

I hated living in the northern midwest for the cold winters every year.

• The summers in the temperate continental forests are gorgeous, especially when the weather permits outdoor activity.

But once you get to early October, the transition into cold weather is both rapid and insurmountable. By comparison, southern California feels like a Mediterranean paradise. Temperatures will often dip into the 50s at night, but usually the weather is warm enough for just a sweater and a pair of jeans throughout most of winter. Another thing that I struggled with in the winters of the northern midwest was keeping plants alive. My cacti are not winter hardy and will die when they freeze completely. I struggled bringing them inside every year to prevent them from dying, but it didn’t always work. On top of that, the temperature fluctuations stress the plants and affect how they grow and the size they get to. When I moved to Tarzana, suddenly I had cooperative weather where my cacti and succulents thrive. On top of that, I can finally grow marijuana plants in my backyard! Not only was the weather uncooperative for cannabis in my home state, but we also were not allowed to have marijuana plants for personal consumption. All legal cannabis had to be purchased from a licensed dispensary. However, California allows all adults over the age of 21 to possess up to six mature cannabis plants at any given time. Although I like the dispensaries in Tarzana and Encincon, it’s nice to supplement my dispensary weed with some homegrown cannabis. It’s a fun hobby for me as well, especially when I get home from a stressful day at work.

Both of my parents grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which became famous in the cannabis community as one of the first places to decriminalize marijuana use all the way back in 1971.

They had their famous “$5 fine” for anyone busted with cannabis within the city limits.

This fine stayed intact until 1990 when it was simply raised to $25. One of my high school teachers here in high school was a University of Michigan graduate and he told me stories about the pot fines when he was a student in the 1980s. Back then the city would simply mail the $5 citation to you in hopes that you mail back the money. He confiscated the joint and gave me a $100 fine for public use of cannabis. And I had to pay the citation, it wasn’t just a slap on the wrist like you get with the cops in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The next time I went to Green Lake Park, I made sure to only use my cannabis vape pen because it is much more discreet and doesn’t produce much of an aroma on the exhale. A joint creates so much aroma that people can smell it from yards away. I should have known I was making a mistake smoking a joint in public in Seattle.

I’m not a big fan of documentaries in general.

I like action movies, and superhero action type of stuff, instead of educational material. That said, an old friend of mine from high school told me he started making a documentary, and asked if I wanted to help him with it. I thought he was kidding, because I don’t know anything about making movies. Bob was adamant, though, because he wanted all the crew members to be locals from Orland Park. This was going to be a documentary about the most famous person to ever come out of Orland Park, so he wanted the production to be “locals only.” First of all, if you don’t know who Buddy Guy is, he is one of the best bluesmen to ever take the stage, and he is an Orland Park original! A lot of people think Buddy is from Chicago, because the Windy City is so close to us, but that isn’t true at all, he’s Orland Park through and through! I was able to locate a lot of Orland Park locals who remembered Buddy from the old days, so I think our production is on the right track! Since we already have those interviews, plus footage of Orland Park itself, all we need to get is some live performance footage of Buddy, and hopefully a few interviews with the blues legend himself. I am still working on a title, but for now I’m pitching the project as “Buddy Guy: The Pride of Orland Park” to hopefully recruit a few local financial backers.

Chicago is only about twenty miles from my house.

At night I can see the light pollution from the Windy City erasing the stars from the sky.

And yet, as close as it is, it might as well be a hundred miles away. To get up and drive into the city would take a bare minimum of two hours, but probably closer to four hours. Physically Chicago is very close, but the logistics of actually traveling to the city are a nightmare. Glenview, Il is a great place to live, but living so close to a major city doesn’t have all the perks you think it would. I love Glenview, but I haven’t been to Chicago in several months, and even then it was just to pick up someone from the airport. But why would I need to go there, when Glenview has everything I need? They recently opened a mega-store for both residential and commercial HVAC products, and that has been a real godsend. I am an HVAC tech here in Glenview, and I used to have parts shipped from the chicago warehouse several times a week. Now I can just go to the local HVAC store here in Glenview and get anything I might need for any kind of repair or installation job. It is the size of a Home Depot, but it’s only for HVAC products, and since it’s in Glenview I only have to drive two miles to get there. Talk about convenience! This makes Glenview an even more comfortable place to live, and to work.

There is something about the Pacific Northwest that is unlike any other place I’ve visited.

It isn’t the people, that’s for sure, because the people in this region tend to be quirky and anti-social.

I understand that sounds like a broad, sweeping generalization, but it’s just my personal experience! The people around here tend to want to be left alone, they thrive under gray skies and constant rain, and they usually don’t like the law or the government. The weather in the Pacific Northwest is amazing, the landscapes the best in the world, so if you can get over the strange people who live here, then Eugene, Oregon is a great place to live. I have always considered myself a bit of an outsider, with aspirations towards being a hermit or a recluse, so Eugene was the perfect place for me to settle down. Not only do I get all the peace and quiet I need, but I also have access to some of the best cannabis in the state. From top to bottom, I would say Oregon is one of the top 2 or 3 states in America in terms of quality cannabis, and Eugene is no exception. I sold my car when I moved here, because I didn’t think I would need it anymore, so usually I ride my bike down to the cannabis dispensary once or twice a week. It’s Eugene, so of course I often have to ride in the rain, but it’s so close to my house it doesn’t really matter. I kind of love it here.

I think it is safe to say that there really aren’t a lot of gay guys that enjoy football.

I grew up in the middle of Texas and I knew that I was gay from the time that I was 10 years old.

I still played football and I was really good at the sport. I excelled in high school and earned a scholarship to college. I played four years of college football and earned a degree from the University. I started working for a non-profit service after I was finished with school. We flew over the city and looked at the bridge and the bay. We landed outside of the stadium and smoked a marijuana joint before we went into the game. Our seats were on the forty yard line and we were close enough to smell the players aftershave.

Edibles include a number of products like candy, chocolate, gummies, tinctures, and drinks. The marijuana dispensary in downtown Denver, Colorado, has a very large selection of edible products. It is the one Denver place where I can find elixirs and tinctures. All of the edible cannabis products are rather expensive. A bag of gummy candies can cost about $25 for 100 mg of THC. Each one of the cookies only has 10 mg of THC. For someone like me, it would easily take an entire bag to feel the effects from marijuana. That’s one of the biggest reasons why I don’t buy a lot of Edibles. My tolerance for marijuana is extremely high. Edible marijuana products are made for consumers that have a very low tolerance. I would need something with a much higher THC content if I planned to get high on Edibles alone.
